City Park Engagement Session | New Orleans Wedding Photographer | Ashley + Drew

February 5, 2018

How did you meet?
Drew and I both grew up in North Mississippi, and we went to middle and high school together. While we didn’t hang out in the same crowd, we knew a lot of the same people and were involved in the same activities at school. In early 2014, Drew reached out to me on social media. He was in law school at Tulane and I had just started law school in Arkansas. Drew and I started messaging via Twitter about school, the legal profession, and old times. Eventually we started hangout when we were both back home in Mississippi, and the rest is history! We fell in love and never looked back.

How did he propose?
I am extremely hard to surprise. My birthday was coming up around Memorial Day weekend, and we were headed to Destin, Florida that weekend for a little beach getaway. We were leaving that Friday morning, but the Thursday before we had a dinner to attend for an event with his work—or so I thought. He told me that we were going to dinner with his boss, co-workers, and an important client at Muriel’s in the French Quarter. He even showed me a fake email from his boss requesting that everyone bring their  significant others. We take an Uber to the French Quarter which drops us right off in front of Jackson Square. We begin walking to Muriel’s and all of the sudden he says, “Ashley, let’s take a quick look at the Andrew Jackson statue, I’ve never seen it up close.” It being summer in New Orleans, I responded that I wanted to hurry to the restaurant because it was hot and humid. Ha! Before I knew it, he turned me toward him, said the sweetest things ever, got down on one knee, and proposed! It was the most precious moment of my life.

What steps are you taking to prepare for married life?
We know that with married life comes a whole new world, and we take that very seriously. We naturally put each other first, respect each other, pray for each other, and go about everything with laughter. I think that’s really all we need to do. We can’t wait to figure out the rest together as life partners.

What excites you most about the wedding?
We’re excited about getting all of our friends and family together and showing them a small piece of New Orleans on our big day. Mostly, we’re just excited about spending this time with each other. It’s so special, and it goes by so fast.

What has been the most stressful part of planning a wedding?
Luckily, I haven’t experienced much stress yet, but I’ve had a ton of time to plan. Our goal is to not try and stress out too much. In the end, even if something doesn’t turn out just perfectly, who is going to know?!

THE GIRL WITH THE CAMERA

MEET TASHA

laidback vibes meets super-profesh resume

With or without my camera, I’ve built a life that lives at the intersection of chill and reliable. Which basically means for my couples that I make their photography fun without ever being pushy. You tell me what you need and I’m there with a smile.

If I wasn’t a photographer, I’d be a walking tour guide. Nothing inspires me quite like the gorgeous mansions, grand old oaks, and colorful culture that makes New Orleans vibrant. Instead of going on a tour, though, I get to explore all these amazing places when I’m there to photograph you and your wedding. How lucky am I!?!

THE GUY WITH THE CAMERa

MEET
JACOB

self-taught meets self-motivated

Eight years ago, I fell hard for documenting weddings when Tasha started bringing me in to assist. It combines everything I love—getting to meet new people (if you can’t find me ever, it’s because I’m becoming best friends with your dad), experiencing new things, and creating something lasting while I’m at it.

Outside of videography, you can find me literally outside. I love to kayak, rock climb, and get out and explore with my family.
